A new international grocery store in Coraopolis is quickly becoming a location for exploring cultures and connecting with the community.
Since quietly opening in March, Nation Style Grocery, located at 1002 Fifth Ave., has been bringing flavors of Jamaica and the Caribbean to the neighborhood.
The store celebrated its official grand opening on June 21, with owners Davia and Terry Haughton welcoming guests with free food and a clear mission: to make international ingredients easier to find while sharing a piece of their home with others.
The Haughtons moved to the United States more than a decade ago. Davia said that they opened the store so they could give access to foods that they had previously missed.
“It’s the little things from home that mean a lot,” she said.
Inside, the store sells a range of Jamaican and Caribbean goods, including basic necessities as well as drinks and meats. Davia said they focus on common ingredients.
