Dress for Success Pittsburgh is collaborating with Carnegie Library of McKeesport for a special event to help women dress their best.
The library will host the Dress for Success mobile event from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday. The organization provides free professional and casual clothing for women and girls ages 14 and older.
“I hope people will come to see what we offer and have fun shopping for some new clothes,” said Harriet Riley, mobile services coordinator for the nonprofit organization.
Riley said working with the library has been great and Dress for Success is excited to extend its services into the McKeesport area.
Mary Rose Bendel, adult program and outreach coordinator for the library, has been eager for DFS to come to McKeesport.
“They are very kind, they set everything up for us,” Bendel said. “We certainly need it in this area.”
Bendel cited a need for professional clothing for working community members and those who are searching for jobs.
“We are very fortunate to have them here, we would love for as many people to come as they can,” Bendel said.
The library will have light refreshments for the event. Bendel hopes guests will come through the library to see what other events are going on this summer.
Dress for Success Pittsburgh is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. DFS also has locations in Pittsburgh, and Washington, Pa., and offers a Mobile Boutique.
DFS Pittsburgh is one of more than 140 locations in 22 different countries, with more than 14,000 volunteers.
